Today's sermon:►Responding to Unfairness

Before going right to the sermon take some time to Worship and meditate on the scripture.

A Meditation in Worship
Sanctus Real "Unstoppable God" Music Video (YouTube)

The writer of the song Unstoppable God talks about a mountain in his life that seems unmovable.

He realizes that even though he has faith he has to own up to the truth; He has doubts that surface and once they get started they take over his life.

He says, that he’d be lying if he did not own up to his own weakness. His struggles are right in front of him and that’s all he thinks about. So he faces the reality that in his weakness his fear is all he sees.

But he wants you to know that he’s not giving up. His story will not end this way; His story will not end in defeatNothing can stop an unstoppable God; Our help comes from the Lord.

Psalm 121 (ESV)

I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.

The song writer wants you to know the unstoppable God. The one who is fighting for us; He is the one we can depend on and we can stand on His promises. The one who is not afraid of impossible odds. For the Lord is where our help comes from.

The scripture tells us our help comes from the Lord.

What gives us the kind of faith that we put our whole trust in God?

How does God keep your feet grounded so your feet are not moved when you face troubles in your life?

How does the Lord, your keeper, secure your today, your future now and forever?

Our help does come from the Lord. Sometimes we might be tempted to look elsewhere for help when we need it. We think it might be easier to trust what we read about in the headlines or the opinions of others who go on and on but in reality don't have the answers. Our help comes from the Lord. We must keep our eyes looking up rather than around about us. It is only in Him that we find His peace, patience and endurance to go through this life. Yes we have troubles but we can trust God to keep us grounded. He is the one who secures our today, our future now, and forever.

Write a prayer to God expressing your faith, hope and trust in Him now and forever.

Joshua 1:6-9 (ESV)
Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them.

Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go.

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it.

For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

The scripture tells us to be strong and courageous.

How does God prepare us to be strong and courageous in this life?

What is God's promise to us that keeps us going in adversity?

Be strong and courageous. Sometimes we get a sense of false reality that we are strong and courageous going through the challenges we face. We may exhibit strength and courage but inside we feel weak and afraid of the future. We can seem sufficient on our own eyes to face our problems and come up with statigies and solutions but in reality we will really never get this strength and courage we crave on our own. It is only as we put our trust and dependence on God and His word that we find our strength and courage comes from Him because He goes before us, behind us and around us. He never leaves us, He is with us wherever we go.

Write a prayer to God expressing your trust and dependence on Him to constantly guide you in life to be strong and courageous as you meet with Him daily and meditate on His word.

Ephesians 6:10-14 (ESV)
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to
stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.

God commands us to be strong in the Lord.

How does God prepare us to be strong in Him?

What does He tell us our fight is against?

What does He tell us why we fight?

God constantly reminds us to be strong in the Lord and courageous. There is a good reason for Him to keep repeating this to us. He knows that only in Him can we withstand these evil days. We may think that we can go about our daily life with the usual laissez-faire attitude. But He commands us in His word to put on His armor to get ready for battle. He is talking about a spiritual battle that will draw spiritual blood. We must be strong IN THE LORD and TAKE UP THE ARMOR OF GOD.

Write a prayer to God as you put on the Armor of God:

Belt of Truth
Breastplate of Righteousness
Shoes of the Gospel
Shield of Faith
Helmet of Salvation
Sword of the Spirit
(the Word of God)

Are there struggles in your life that you face? Maybe every day they taunt you? Remember the unstoppable God Is the one we can depend on. He is our help when we are weak. He is not afraid of impossible odds.

We must remember that our fight is not always against flesh and blood but that we fight a spiritual battle. Remember our faith comes from him and our strength comes from hearing and practicing the Truth that comes from His Word.

As you meditate on the scripture remembering the promises God has made to those who love Him; who meditate on His word and are careful to do what it says, write a prayer to God that expresses the truth that speaks to your heart.
